Supervision for practising astrologers
Group Supervision
The recent surge in interest in astrology has encouraged many into its study and practice. Whilst I'm happy about that, I have concerns. Much more than knowledge of symbols and technique is needed. And the role is isolating and attracts such expectations and projections from the client that without a high level of self-awareness, ethics and strong moral fibre, a philosophical curiosity, the support from peers and mentors and good practice habits we could well do more harm than good, or are ourselves hurt. I believe supervision is crucial to growing and supporting the work of healthy and effective astrologers. You might be interested in reading Australian astrologer Brian Clarke’s ideas on this in his article here.
With this in mind I run monthly supervision group of 6 practising astrologers or experienced students entering into practice. Classes involve the discussion of key practice issues, and especially the sharing of cases from attendees’ practices. These are emailed in advance so attendees can come prepared to participate. Much learning is possible out of helping one another to come to a deeper understanding of the chart and the themes contained within it.
The group is closed for a cycle of 4-6 months, and strict confidentiality is respected. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive yet professional.
