Since their discoveries over the past 250 years, the so-called ‘Outer Planets’ have become essential players in horoscopes for most astrologers. Yet our understanding of them is still so fresh - we have had, for example, little more than half a Pluto cycle since its discovery in 1930 to observe its transit around the zodiac, and only recently had a full Neptune cycle. In astrologers’ enthusiasm we have been perhaps over-hasty in siphoning off meaning and significations that once fell within the associations and rulerships of the visible planets, apportioning these to the outers. And we can, I believe, fall temptation to seeing them more positively that they deserve.
In this workshop we will be doing a deep and thorough exploration of the outer reaches of our solar system and the planets that lurk there, always asking the question to what purpose has their discovery been for humanity? And how do their placements in our charts help us understand not only the often challenging situations and processes they describe, but how we fit into, and carry our individual portion of, a much larger story? You’ll come away with a whole new appreciation of these enemies of the ego, these enigmatic harbingers of global tectonic shifts.
Whilst Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will comprise the majority of the material in these classes, I will also be considering Chiron, the new trans-Neptunian planets as a phenomenon, and the significance of Saturn in relation to them.
Prerequisites: you will need to have a good understanding of the basic lexicon of the astrological six language to get the most from this short course.
Four Wednesday evenings, weekly, from 7-9pm NZ local time (07:00-09:00 GMT). Cost NZ$250
